I started working with a nutrition coach about 7 weeks ago. At the beginning, I was sticking to the plan fairly closely, but over the past 2-3 weeks I've been largely sticking to the eating parts of the plan, but have been drinking more. Not a huge amount (relative to my former normal), but still enough to throw the balance off. If my target is 1400 calories, and I eat that and then have additional drinks, that can throw off the numbers by 20-30%.
With the weather turning nice, I am so so tempted to sit out on the porch with a glass of rose and enjoy the sunshine. It probably is the ritual of it, and a glass of kombucha or a non-alcoholic cocktail would very likely achieve the same thing, especially if served in a fancy glass.
This week I am setting the intention to adhere to the guidelines my nutrition coach has provided me, and that means cutting out alcohol. True, she didn't say I had to stop all together, but I do need to log accurately. A single glass of wine accounts for nearly 20% of my 'fat' macros for the day, and just under 10% of my carb macros. Multiply that time 2, 3, or 4, and that doesn't leave me with much to work with as far as food to actually sustain myself.
I'm devoting all this time & energy to eating well, and then at the end of the day I sabotage it by drinking. I'd like to give myself a chance to see the nutrition changes actually have an effect.
